The Place Beyond the Pines, directed by Derek Cianfrance, tells the story of a motorcycle stunt rider named Luke (Ryan Gosling) who finds out his former flame Romina (Eva Mendes) gave birth to his son. Throwing away his career as a performer in a traveling carnival, Luke quits and enlists the help of Robin (Ben Mendelsohn) to assist in robbing banks to help provide for his son and Romina. It is during this that he crosses paths with a rookie cop named Avery (Bradley Cooper). When their paths cross they set off a chain of events that not only affects their lives, but the people around them.
